The great patch 2.3 has been out for quite a while already so people have been talking about how great patch 2.4 could be. 2.4 will introduce the Sunwell Plateau, which will have a new 5 man dungeon and a 25 man raid dungeon harder in progression than the Black Temple. But before we look that far ahead, the latest news that hit the WoW community reminded us of patch 2.3's great reputation - especially for mages!

MMO Champion gives us an image of the PTR patch notes for patch 2.3.2, a small patch with nice changes for most classes - especially mages! Here are some of the more interesting patch notes entries:

/timetest is a command that can be run to provide information on game performance. /timetest 0 turns the command off. When the command is issued, the next time a player uses a flight master to travel, certain statistics will be measured and displayed at the end of that flight. All weather effects and spawns are shutdown during the test.

"Withdraw - repair only" button for guild banks. Editors note: this is useful for guilds that want more controls over who can access the guild bank's gold. For guild masters and officers who still want to all members to be able to use the guild's resources to repair but not for anything else, this is for you!

Hunters: Freezing Trap is no longer limited to one target at a time and pet leveling speed has been increased.

Shaman: Water Shield now restores mana periodically regardless of how many charges remain. Duration increased to 10 minutes.

Mages: Iceblock trainable at level 30. Coldsnap will move to iceblock's position. A new talented spell called Icy Veins was added to the frost tree. Icy veins will decreases casting time of all spells by 20% and increases the chance your chilling effects will freeze the target by 25%. Lasts 20 sec. 3 min cooldown. It is now in the Cold Snap position in the talent tree.

As a frost mage, I'm definitely going to get Icy Veins. Even if the skill didn't have the part about increasing the chance for chilling effects to freeze the target, I'd still get it for the decreased casting time. It would be nice to have a berserk like skill without being a troll.
