I remember running the Arcatraz with a Tauren druid named Treecow a while back.I told him that it's a good thing he was really a tree cow (restoration druid) or else he would have failed at fulfilling his namesake. But what if Treecow wanted to respec to feral or balance? He's pretty much stuck with his name right? He and other players in the same type of situation might be stuck living a name that doesn't fit them anymore. Well, the latest announcement by Blizzard at the WoW Website says not anymore! Finally paid name changes are here!
We’re happy to announce that through the wonders of modern gnomish engineering, you are now able to change your characters’ names. Finally, you can turn the moniker that seemed like a good idea at the time into something more befitting your true standing in World of Warcraft.
Visit Account Management to begin the paid character-name-change process. The fee is $10 per name change.

This feature is especially helpful for those people who named themselves something silly like Legalaz or Chuknorriz and want to change it into something more heroic sounding. Unfortunately, this feature isn't available to all realms just yet. Just like when the voice chat feature came out, Blizzard will be rolling out this feature across the realms in many phases. To find out which realms are included in the first phase click here.
